ABOUT US

Here's a sample of the weeks end report from students in LA and NY.

Monday

I did a lot of follow-up on my list of leads. I was returning my emails and phone calls and setting up scouts. It was exhilarating SEEING my future unfold! This is definitely the career for me! This is definitely an area of the industry I enjoy the most, and now understand how to get clients for myself.

Tuesday

The list that Tara gave us in the Bride Mini Guide doesn't say anything about hotels! This seems like a simple question, but I didn't feel 100% confident in answering, so I emailed Tara. My gut feeling was right! Tara reassured me that the attendants assume that expense unless the couple have offered to pay for the event in total, including those expenses.

I also have another question (which may seem equally as silly). Tara spoke about putting the petals down on the isle during the ceremony. I have seen lots of beautiful pictures of thousands of petals on the isle. How do they not all get swept up in the brides dress?? Do the guests mess them as they are seated?? I can see putting the final touches after the guests are seated, but the bride still has to come down the isle. Obviously, the first step would to not have a Cathedral train, but is there a way to have both?? Tara again eased my mind and said, there is no way to keep the petals from being affected by the bride walking down the aisle. All of the beautiful floral "runners" you see in photography are prior to the grand walk. Guests are not allowed down the center aisle before the ceremony so you normally rope off the aisle prior to the processional to avoid any guests trampling over the flowers. One way to avoid any destruction of petals is the line the aisle with petals instead of placing them in the center.

These questions seemed simple, but without Tara I would have been a little lost. Thanks Tara!

Wednesday

I started working with a new bride today! Her name is Tiffany, and I e-mailed her a lot of Malibu venues today for her to see. I would like to try to set up a scout with her for this weekend and book her asap! I also continued working with Kara today. I think she is going to scout Hollywood Castle and the Enchanted Villa when she is in town again at the end of this month, and then hopefully book with us! I also called and e-mailed some older leads, but a few of them have become dead leads. I updated my leads in webex today as well.

Thursday

Today I went to see the Vibiana in person, and it is absolutely gorgeous! I talked to Anika, who is our contact there, about getting a deal for Kara's wedding, and I'm hoping we are going to be able to work something out. I have been feeling a bit discouraged lately since I have yet to book an event, but going to a location kind of reminded me why I love this occupation so much. If I could just book an event now, it will be great! Also, I started working with another new client who is interested in scouting this weekend and booking a location asap! Fingers crossed that everything goes well with him! I am going to talk to him tonight and try to work out details.

Friday

I spoke with Kent, who is a fiance, and he is so excited to work with Premiere! We are going scouting tomorrow I am really hoping that he books one of these soon! I followed up on leads that I have not been able to get in contact with yet, and one bride called me back. However, she has a budget of $10,000 and wants something with an ocean view in Malibu so I don't know if I am going to be able to work with her. I sent her a few locations, but we'll see!
